Coronavirus (COVID-19)

April 2, 2020

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

COVID-19 Update

I trust that everyone is keeping safe during the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) lockdown. The situation continues to change but by now I hope you are persisting in your efforts to decrease your risk of exposure, such as:

  • Frequently washing your hands for at least 20 seconds.
  • Practicing social distancing when you are out and as much as possible at home.
  • Abiding by the emergency orders as delineated by the Prime Minister.

As part of our effort to keep faculty, staff, and students safe, our campuses in Nassau and Freeport will remain closed for the duration of the emergency order. In the meantime, faculty and staff will work remotely to the extent that it is practicable.

Please stay tuned for future updates and make every effort to stay safe during this horrific period of our time.

Sincerely

Deswell Forbes

President

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

COVID-19 Update: End of Winter Trimester

According to the Prime Minister’s latest pronouncement, the lock down will continue through next week. Of course, this means that our campuses will remain closed at least until the Emergency Orders are lifted. Students should therefore expect to complete final course assessments remotely. All instructors are asked to advise students regarding final course assessment accordingly. Students who have not yet completed final tuition payment should make every effort to do so at the earliest opportunity. However, it has been determined that students with outstanding balances will not be frustrated by the Accounting Office in their quest to complete any final course assessment under the current conditions.

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has created high levels of uncertainty in our country but together I believe we as Bahamians can conquer this evil enemy. Please let us pray for those who have fallen victim to this insidious disease and continue to make every effort to remain safe. Remember to:

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Always wear gloves and masks when venturing outside your home
  • Leave clothing and shoes worn at supermarkets, banks, pharmacies etc. outside your home. (Then wash the clothing and disinfect the shoes.)
  • Wash all food packaging thoroughly before use
  • Disinfect all surfaces in your home regularly

Thank you and please stay tuned for future updates.

Sincerely

Deswell Forbes

President
