The new global economy is centered on the execution of business transactions. It does not matter whether you are involved in manufacturing, distribution; retail merchandising or whether you work in the government or private sector some aspect of business will touch your daily activities. Everything from payroll to investments is dependent on business. It goes without saying then that business provides more opportunities worldwide than any other discipline and while it may suffer more negative impact as the market environment fluctuates; because of its ubiquity it also provides greater protection against market slumps. Moreover, new developments continue to expand opportunities in various facets of business on a daily basis. Together, these factors make business in general or any of its sub-fields an excellent career choice.

The Bahamas Institute of Business & Technology’s Department of Business offers programs and courses designed to meet the challenges of the new global economy and to allow graduates to take full advantage of the multiplicity of opportunities that exist worldwide. Certificate and degree programs are available in a wide range of areas. Students can study for as little as six weeks and earn skills in specific areas but in most cases individuals become involved in comprehensive degree programs geared towards building careers in fields such as Accounting, Marketing, Human Resource Management and Management to name a few.
